Printmaking
My background in printmaking is classical with a focus on intaglio techniques of etching, aquatint, and color viscosity, and woodcut. I prefer realism and infuse my images with contrast, drama, and mood. My love for crosshatching is evident in most of the prints. There are three woodcuts: the wolf, two horses facing each other, and a color reduction woodcut with a horse. The figure on the sofa was created by stone lithography. The appaloosa and the flamingo images are intaglio, resin aquatint, and color viscosity prints. Mezzotint was used to create the monochromatic paint horse in the black square. Pattern comes into play in several of these images. The figure in the hot house, the elephant, and the two expressionist horses were created by resin aquatint. The swan and print with wolves are hand colored. Animals continue to inspire me by what they express in their souls and how we view them.
